The Saratoga Springs, NY Chapter of the SPEBSQSA, Inc. was founded by Dr. Jim Cogan and Paul Rouillard in 1956 while on their way home from a meeting of the Gloversville, NY Chapter.The Chapter received its Charter on October 15th, 1956.Today, there is still one charter member active in the Chapter.
Since it's inception, the Chapter, and its associated performing group, the Racing City Chorus, have grown and flourished. The chorus first "medaled" in District competition in 1966,placed first in 1970, and has claimed the gold six times since then! The Racing City Chorus has been proud to represent the Northeastern District at International Competitions in San Francisco, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Seattle and Anaheim!
The were NED District Champions in 1970, 1973, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1982 and 1998.
The Racing City Chorus was the first chapter to pay a visit to our Dutch brothers in song, in 1988. We have since co-hosted both the DABS and Dutch SAI for return visits and look forward to another trip to Europe!
