Competition is a major and fun part of the barbershop world that helps keep us focused on raising the bar of performing excellence. We come together in a spirit of lighthearted contest, to see who's really got top form. We root for each other, cheer each other on, and once the medals have been handed out, we sing and party into the night!
Division Contest -
In the fall, as the leaves turn, the chapters and quartets of the Northeastern District gather to select their champion and medalist choruses and quartets. RCC is part of the Mountain Division.
In the fall, as the leaves turn, the chapters and quartets of the Northeastern District gather to select their champion and medalist choruses and quartets. The Mountain division, Yankee division, Granite and Pine division, Patriot division and Sunrise division bring all of thier musical talents together for a gathering of nearly 1000 singers.
There is a Mid-Winter Convention for the Society - usually held in sunnier, warmer climbates for folks who want to scape winter. January 16-21, 2018 the Mid-winter will be in Orange Couty, CA and will feature the BHS Senior Quartet competition, the Youth Chorus Festival and the Saturday Night show of Champions with top quartets from the 2014 International Contest.
After fall, the winners of all district contests -- and a few "wildcards" -- start preparing for the BIG ONE - International competition. The 2017 Barbershop Harmony Society International competition will be held in Pittsburgh, PA beginning June 28th - through July 5th. You can view the complete contest on a live webcast on the BHS website. This is the ultimate male barbershop competition -- not to be missed!
